PIAA requires all registered PIAA officials to attend a total of six meetings and the Interpretation Meeting. New Federation Mechanics There are new Federation Mechanics for the 07-08 Season. To review the new mechanics, click here.
How to Become a PIAA Official PIAA requires all those interested in becoming a registered sports official must pass the National Federation test. You can register with the PIAA (Click to Print a Copy of Application). Complete the application and remit with your $30 fee. The test is given three times during the school year (Oct, Feb, and June) and once at the annual PIAA Officials Convention in August. Upon receiving a passing score, you must affiliate with a local chapter within 15 days after receipt of your passing score. FAQ
PIAA Disqualification Requirement PIAA requires all registered sports officials to file a written report when a contestant (player) or coach is ejected within 24 hours after the game. This report must be filed on an approved PIAA form. You may print and complete this form and fax to the PIAA @ 717-697-7721 or complete the on-line form. Failure to comply with this requirement could result in suspension of said official.
PIAA Dues The PIAA has raised the basic officials' registration fee to $33.00 per sport. The payment of registration fees will still have a three month discount period of three dollars to allow officials to pay $30.00 per sport. The officials' representatives vigorously opposed this raise in fees, but didn't receive enough support at the Board level to change this action. The PIAA encourages officials to take advantage of the discount period in remitting their registration fees.
Chapter Dues Chapter dues are $20 and are due by Dec 1. After Dec 3rd, the late fee of $8 should be included in your payment. All check should be made payable to Abington Chapter C/O Bill Quirk, 24 Rorer Ave, Hatboro, Pa 19040
Have a mechanics question, want to find out about an interpretation or debate a rule, discuss and share a weird play, then the Ref Discussion Board is for you. It's a way for officials to share and discuss any plays, situations, or rules questions without waiting for meeting. You can post your particular play, situation or question and other officials can read and reply or learn from your play and interpretation.
Technical Foul Report Walt's Technical Foul report is available for email now. Click here and complete the form. It will be sent automatically to Walt Yost
